The question is…do we really need them? Well Paul Ekman says we do. Ekman is the author of several books on human emotions and reading facial expressions as well as the creator of the Facial Action Coding System. You can find more information about him here.
In the beauty industry we seem to do everything we can to eliminate any sign of emotion. We laser our crows feet, fill the Glabella area (that spot between your brows that makes you look angry or overly concerned), fill or stretch the marionette lines and nasal-labial folds, blepharoplasty our eyelids, Botox our bunny lines and CO2 our smile lines. There were even times in recent as well as ancient history when we even wanted to eliminate our eyebrows-eek!
